Dropping out of an activity
If your plans change, you can drop out of an activity you've joined. There are several ways you can change your status for upcoming activities:
- Tap the 'Out' button in WhatsApp for a specific activity.
- Reply 'out' to Squaddle via WhatsApp – if you have multiple upcoming activities, we'll reply with a link to your 'Schedule'.
- View your 'Schedule' of upcoming activities – and change your response there.
Your status updates immediately and your organiser is notified that you've dropped out.
If there are people on the reserves list, your spot will be offered to others as soon as you change your status.
Refunds when you drop out
If your squad uses Squaddle for payments, your eligibility for a refund depends on how your squad organiser has set up payments for the activity.
- Upfront payments – you paid to confirm your place, so you'll be refunded when the activity starts, unless the late dropout charge applies.
- Anytime payments – if you've already paid, you're entitled to a refund once the activity starts, unless the late dropout charge applies. If you haven't paid and you drop out in time, you won't owe anything for the activity.
Late dropout charge
If you drop out less than 24 hours before an activity and your organiser has 'Charge late dropouts' enabled, you'll still be charged – even if you don't attend the activity.
If you've paid in advance, you won't receive an automatic refund. If you haven't paid, the late dropout charge will be added to your outstanding payments.
You should drop out more than 24 hours in advance to avoid this penalty.
Receiving your refund
Refunds are processed via Stripe and typically reach your card within 2-3 days. Stripe will send a refund confirmation to the address you provided at checkout – even if you signed up to Squaddle via WhatsApp only.
If you haven't received a refund you were expecting, it's usually one of the following:
- You're still marked 'In' – check the status in your 'Schedule' to make sure you haven't accidentally responded to another activity.
- The late dropout charge applied – if you dropped out less than 24 hours before the activity and 'Charge late dropouts' was enabled, you won't get an automatic refund.
- The activity hasn't started yet – refunds aren't processed until the activity's start time, even if you dropped out earlier. This is because members sometimes change their status more than once before an activity.
If none of these apply and you still think you've been charged in error, speak to your squad organiser in the first instance, or contact us if you need help.
What happens if an activity is cancelled?
If an activity is cancelled, everyone marked 'In' who's paid is refunded immediately. We'll also waive any late dropout charges that were incurred before the activity was cancelled.
