Appointing a squad admin
Whoever creates a squad will automatically be assigned the role of 'owner' – they have control over all squad settings, including inviting members, creating activities and withdrawing funds.
Appointing another member as an admin is a good way to share responsibility for managing your squad.
What permissions do admins have?
Admins have broadly the same permissions as owners, with the exception of withdrawing funds. Admins can:
- Add members
- Create activities and send invites
- Set the cost for an activity, see who's paid, and send payment reminders
- Send messages
- Give and revoke admins rights to others
Admins cannot:
- Withdraw funds from the squad
- Revoke the rights of the account owner

- Select the member you want to make an admin from your Squad. Tap the three-dot menu next to their name and select 'Give admin rights'.

- Confirm the action. Once confirmed, you'll see a notification that the admin invite has been sent.

- The member accepts their invite. They'll receive an email (or WhatsApp message) inviting them to be an admin, with a button to accept. Admins need an account that has an email address and password, so anyone who joined the squad via WhatsApp only will be asked to set this up as part of accepting. Nothing changes until they accept — if they don't, they'll remain a regular member.

- Once accepted, they'll appear with an 'Admin' badge next to their name in the 'Squad' tab. As an admin, they can appoint other members as admins, or revoke another member's admin's rights; they can't remove the squad owner's rights. See Managing squad members for more on these actions.
Can I transfer squad ownership to another member?
Yes, it's possible to transfer squad ownership to another member or admin. The current squad owner needs to contact us to start the process. For squads that use Squaddle for payments, the new owner will need to set up their own Stripe Connect account to withdraw funds and complete the process.
